Collecting, editing, analysing

Italian humanist’s letters

(1400-1499)

The project Human_IT: Collecting, editing, analysing Italian humanist’s letters (1400-1499), by dr. Cristiano Amendola, investigates the “Republic of Letters” of the 15th century, in order to reconstruct the intellectual relations between the most important humanists. That dense network of communication and sharing of knowledge was possible thanks to the Latin language and the use of the epistles.

The TEI-XML database makes use of the ARACNE database engine, projected by dr. Alfredo Cosco for CAB - Centro di Ateneo per le Biblioteche UNINA. The work is carried out in the context of the PhD in History, Cultures and Knowledge of Mediterranean Europe from Antiquity to the Contemporary Age at University of Basilicata, under the direction of prof. Fulvio Delle Donne.
